Website Rundown: Tips for Enhancing Online Revenue

/

CEO of Brain Swell Media, Ryan Dohrn, discusses in this weeks Shweiki webinar how the most asked question he gets from his clients are “how do we optimize our online revenue?” Dohrn takes us through multiple examples of online companies who are doing the right things toward revenue efficiency.

Online Tool Bar

The first step Dohrn suggests towards online revenue productivity is the adoption of a free social toolbar (as shown in the bottom of the picture). Whenever one appropriates a toolbar onto their site, they instantly can turn any page into a hotbed of social sharing. Dorhn explains that many people have social buttons attached to certain articles, but a toolbar follows every page on the site and isn’t limited to designer input. Other cool features that come with the toolbar are a translate button (that can transform any website into a transnational “rosetta stone”) and tracking technologies that tell the owner how many people are online and who is following his/her posts.

Another site Dorhn is particularly interested in is the Santa Fe Reporter. Dohrn suggests uploading a Google+ button to help improve Google rankings. Making Google happy is a big priority if one wants to climb to the top of the Google ranks (Dohrn also recommends adding a Google search box within the site). Dohrn believes that keeping aesthetics simple is the best way to enhance revenue options such as sharable content and prime advertising space. The Reporter has both a live Twitter feed and an article of the day option that keeps their viewer’s interest peaked, and supplies them a reason to return daily (very important in terms of advertising).

Applying Video Content

Video has quickly grow into the most sharable form of content. Cell phones, tablets, and laptops all provide nonstop platforms for viewing. Dohrn praises Stack Magazine for its online video capabilities. Dohrn says that, “video has absolutely revolutionized [Stack’s] business. It has upped their revenue as much as ten-to-twenty fold.” He encourages all owners, who have the means, to incorporate a video component onto their main page.
