INSITE CUSTOMER UPLOADING GUIDE
This document is a brief overview of the process of saving files, uploading them and having those files process automatically using INSITE. You can also download the full guide here
GETTING READY
Uploading files is a quick and painless process. Before you upload files you need to think of how you will be creating your PDF files. Will you be saving individual pages or sending one multi-page document? The INSITE system works best with single page PDF files. The reason for this is that if you upload single page PDF files then you can re-upload single page revision files. If you upload a multi-page PDF file you must upload the exact same page range and number of pages or the upload will not automatically process. If sending multi-page files is part of your internal workflow, please limit these files to no more than 30 pages per file.
NAMING YOUR FILES
File naming affects the placement of the files and the order of the files in INSITE. Files will be ordered in INSITE exactly the same way they are ordered when viewed on your PC in explorer or MAC in the finder when sorted by name. The files with "1" or "A" will show up at the top. When in doubt place your pdf files into a separate folder on your desktop and sort by name and that is how INSITE will see your files and that is the order they will be placed in when uploaded.
It is not necessary to have the name of the publication on the page files as they will be assigned only to the job template you have created. Page one should always be the cover.
Please name pages to conform to the Shweiki naming conventions making sure to add the appropriate leading zeros. The following examples are assuming these are 4 color files.
Page number places should be determined by the total number of pages. If your document is less than 100 pages only 2 places are necessary. ( i.e. for publications from 1 to 99 pages - Page one should be the cover and should be named 01.pdf and so on until the back cover is the last page 99.pdf)
Anything over 100 pages will require three place digits. (i.e. for publications from 100 to 999 pages - Page one should be the cover and should be named 001.pdf and so on until the back cover is the last page 999.pdf)
UPLOADING FILES
Once you have created a job, click the "Upload" button. A new window will appear asking you to name and upload files. Name the upload whatever you like, this is for your purposes and has no bearing on the process.
Select files to be uploaded and drag them to the lower portion of the box that says drag upload files here. You can also click on the green circle with the "+" sign to select pages to upload. Click upload in the lower left of the box. Transfer will complete. Now, you can view your pages at the pages tab, approve, reject and so on. Shweiki Media will impose your pages and upload flats for position proofing and final approval to print.
