Shweiki is proud to announce that they will once again be serving as the official print sponsor for Austin Film Festival–the premier film festival recognizing writers’ and filmmakers’ contributions to film, television and new media–and printing the official program, the film pocket booklet and all mailers for the event.
Austin Film Festival is an annual film fest and conference–this year, running October 23-30–with the mission “to further the art and craft of filmmaking by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film and television to tell a story.” Known by many as “The Writers festival,” AFF is a nonprofit organization funded and supported by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, City of Austin Economic Growth & Redevelopment Services/Cultural Arts Division with the belief that an investment in the Arts is an investment in the city’s future.
All AFF events are open to the public (and many are free!), and while badges of various levels are available for purchase, the fest prides itself on its accessibility, offering discounts to members of nonprofit art organizations and awarding grants to hundreds of local teachers and students to facilitate their introduction to the arts. As part of the conference aspect of the fest, AFF’s Arts Education Outreach Program also produces a series of panels on creative writing, storytelling, and career and film school opportunities that are geared towards students and teachers.
Along with their efforts to make the festival accessible to as many interested members of the public as possible, Austin Film Festival also works to support local arts organizations and businesses by providing a platform through which they can showcase their services. AFF has partnered with organizations including the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, Texas FilmCommission, Texas Book Festival, LBJ Library, Bob Bullock Texas History Center, Emancipet, University of Texas at Austin’s Radio-Television-Film Department, Dell Children’s Hospital and more.
Notable screenings this year include the kick-off film, the US premiere of Barry Levinson’s The Humbling; Jon Stewart’s directorial debut, Rosewater; The Sound and the Fury, James Franco’s adaptation of the William Faulkner novel, and many, many more. Information on the festival and the full schedule can be found at Austinfilmfestival.com, and badges and passes can be found here.
This marks the eleventh year that Shweiki has contributed their high-quality, hassle-free printing services to the festival, and the team members and company as a whole are excited to once again collaborate with the Austin Film Festival team. Shweiki is also making its printing services available to filmmakers, offering a Film Festival Promotion with discounted prices on posters and postcards (complete with free augmented reality!) that is redeemable via one’s Austin Film Festival promotional code.
