Shweiki is excited to announce that they will not only be sponsoring the 2014 Austin Film Festival, but that they will reprise their role as the print sponsor of the 25th Annual New Orleans Film Festival as well.
New Orleans Film Festival (NOFF)–twice named by MovieMaker as one of the “25 Film Festivals Worth The Entry Fee”–is put on by the New Orleans Film Society, and this year will take place from October 16-23 at venues across the city. Known as a discovery festival, NOFF prides itself on showcasing amazing, often overlooked films, and over 91% of the festival’s selections come from submissions. The rapidly growing fest is also often ahead of the curve, as exemplified by last year’s screening of Oscar-nominated films like August Osage County and Nebraska long before they were released in theaters.
This year’s festival opens with the US premiere of Mike Binder’s Black and White, while the closing film is a Joe Lauro-directed documentary called The Big Beat. From the record number of submissions (2,100 from 86 countries), 14 narrative and documentary films were selected to compete and will be screened over the course of the fest as well. And, in the spirit of the Big Easy, the event is not simply a set of movie screenings, but a celebration complete with parties and events, and has been described as “a happy blur of daiquiris and alligator nuggets, passionate, intelligent filmmaking and bizarre bouncy castle encounters.”
The main box office opens October 13th, and tickets–along with more information–can be found at Neworleansfilmfestival.org.
The New Orleans Film Society has been engaging, educating and inspiring through the art of film since 1989, and puts on other events throughout the year as well–including the French Festival, the New Orleans International Children’s Film Festival, monthly film series, and more–designed to benefit local film audiences, artists and professionals. Shweiki is excited to partner with this organization yet again and print the materials for the New Orleans Film Festival.
