Shweiki Media, Inc. participated in Junior Achievement of South Texas’ JA Job Shadow Day on Tuesday February 2, hosting 30 Steele High School Graphic Design and Digital Media Students along with their instructor Brady Russell.
JA Job Shadow offers students a unique opportunity to visit a professional work environment and gain insights into how to find and keep a fulfilling career.
The students were able to tour the entire plant at Shweiki Media and see how a magazine is created from start to finish. Leaders from each department gave the students a 15 minute presentation on what role they play in the production of a magazine.
Students were able to ask questions and see production process first hand. A fun “Shweiki” Quiz was given at the end of the day and prizes were awarded to the group with the highest score.
The bright young students left the plant with a new understanding and appreciation of the graphic arts field and the power of print. To sum it up instructor Brady Russell said, “It was the best field trip I had ever taken my students on.”
