Cashing In On Facebook

/

It’s no secret that Facebook is generally known as the mecca of social media marketing. While many businesses promote through fan pages, a far fewer amount are actually cashing in on added revenue. Ryan Dohrn, CEO of Brain Swell Media and 360 Ad Sales, shares his knowledge on how to turn content into cash, in his Shweiki Media webinar.

Status Updates

One important thing to consider is ensuring that status updates don’t appear commercial; one’s page should always be authentic. When a customer follows a fan page, they are looking for updates with insights into the “back office” of the page owner. Once one attracts a customer, showering them with advertisements (ex: BACK TO SCHOOL SALE. 10% OFF ALL ITEMS) is just going to make them tune off and “change the channel”—or, in Facebook terms, unlike you—ASAP.

Make Use of Tabs

Businesses with a large Facebook audience can customize their tabs to improve revenue and add click-ability in a couple of different ways. Marketers solely interested in boosting their own brand can redesign their tab images to  include an updated look and highlight high-brand awareness. Not only does boosting tab images show off one’s page design, it also improve CTR (click-through-rates) when page followers grow interested in the look.

Page managers who work business to business can also sell tab space as a form of advertisement revenue to their accounts. As long as a host account has enough “likes” from a certain target demographic, a well-designed tab holds true as a stream of income—strictly through the page.

Boosted Status Updates

The sale of tab space naturally leads to the selling of boosted status updates. Of course Facebook itself sells boosts to a widespread demographic of one’s choice, but if one is looking to generate revenue (and has a substantial audience) they can cut out the middleman and promote an outside source directly on their own page. Depending on the CTR, Dohrn believes that any page with the right backing could generate up to $150 dollars per 1,000 clicks.
